The college staff collaborated with Original Solutions Company Inc., a manufacturer’s representative of Engineered HVAC Products, to furnish a network of airflow measuring stations on the college campuses. The installation successfully achieved the desired Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) goal and energy savings. Users can easily access real-time data from every airflow measuring station via the BACnet-integrated Building Management System or the EB-Link App on their smartphone.

In one instance, an EBTRON Silver series airflow station installed in 1996 was discovered in an obscure location after seven years of missed maintenance. After cleaning, it provided accurate readings again. The unit was upgraded to the new Advantage Gold series, which offered enhanced features and accuracy.
Robert observed that EBTRON’s products consistently provided accurate readings with less frequent maintenance. He stated, “Standardizing on the EBTRON Gold Series was an obvious solution. The College integrated AFMS with Demand Control Ventilation (DCV) based on CO2 levels and VAV systems. This approach provided better control and limited under/over-ventilation, ensuring buildings met ventilation requirements efficiently.
Given Florida’s hot and humid climate, managing outside air and humidity levels is crucial for reducing energy waste. EBTRON’s Gold Series proved ideal, offering reliability, accuracy, and resilience with minimal cleaning and maintenance.
Collaborative Success with Original Solutions
Original Solutions Company, Inc. played a crucial role in supporting the College’s efforts by assisting with EBTRON airflow station selection and installation. Despite challenges in some locations, the team worked closely with contractors and facilities personnel to meet placement guidelines for optimal performance.
The College spans 2.5 million square feet, with 2.2 million square feet utilizing EBTRON Gold Series airflow stations integrated into the Building Management System (BMS). The EB-Link feature allows users to access real-time airflow data, including temperature, humidity, and dew point, directly from their smartphones.
